What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of New Beginnings Fellowship - Rio Linda based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

There is one and only one living and true God, who eternally exists in three co-equal and co-eternal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This triune God is infinite in being and perfection, unchanging, all-powerful, all-knowing, sovereign over all things, and worthy of all worship, obedience, and love. He created all things for His glory and according to the counsel of His will.

Revelation

God has made Himself known to us by general revelation through creation and conscience, and by special revelation through the Holy Scriptures. The Bible is the inspired, infallible, and sufficient Word of God—our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Ultimately, God has revealed Himself through His Son, Jesus Christ, the radiance of God’s glory and the exact imprint of His nature.

Mankind

God created humanity, male and female, in His image and for His glory. Adam was appointed as the federal head of the human race. Though created upright and good, mankind was mutable and capable of sin. Human dignity, value, and accountability come from being image-bearers of God, even after the Fall.

The Fall

Through Adam’s disobedience, sin and death entered the world. As our covenant head, Adam’s guilt and corruption were imputed to all his descendants. Therefore, all people are born in sin, enslaved to it, and justly under God’s wrath. We are unable to save ourselves or even turn to God apart from His sovereign grace.

Salvation

Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. In His perfect life, substitutionary death, and victorious resurrection, Jesus Christ accomplished full redemption for all who trust in Him. Regeneration—the new birth—is a sovereign act of the Holy Spirit, changing the heart and enabling faith. We believe in the doctrines of grace (Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Particular Redemption, Effectual Calling, and Perseverance of the Saints), which glorify God as the author and finisher of our salvation.

The Church

The local church is a visible assembly of baptized believers who covenant together under the lordship of Christ and the authority of Scripture. Christ is the Head of the Church, and He governs it through qualified elders and deacons. We believe in believer’s baptism by immersion as a sign of new covenant membership and obedience to Christ. The Church exists to worship God, edify the saints, proclaim the gospel, and advance the kingdom of Christ.

Ressurection

We believe in the personal, bodily, and glorious return of Jesus Christ to judge the living and the dead. The righteous will be raised to eternal joy in God’s presence, and the wicked to eternal punishment. Christ’s return will usher in the consummation of His kingdom, the renewal of all things, and the final defeat of sin, death, and the devil.
